APPLEDORE Pilot Gig Club's History Race was attended by all seven clubs from the region.Fifteen men's, ladies' and mixed crews took part on a challenging 4.5-mile course down the Torridge to the Outer Pulley marker buoy and back. Low water and an incoming tide meant the rowers had to fight against strong currents on the first leg. Jostling for position in the narrow deepwater channel added an extra competitive dimension.
