A TOWN clerk said he was "appalled" to hear that two picnic tables in Barnstaple had been set alight.
Barnstaple Town Council clerk was reacting to the news that a pair of benches in Castle Green were set alight on Wednesday night.
Police are investigating the matter and believe four young people may have been seen running away from the scene.
