THE Royal North Devon Hussars were formed in 1798 during the Napoleonic wars as a sort of territorial unit and they continued in being all through the 19th century, being more usually known as Yeomanry Cavalry. On the outbreak of the First World War, the regiment was called up and served in Gallipoli, Egypt, Palestine and Flanders.
