A Boxing Day drinker from Barnstaple has been jailed for threatening to kill his landlady and her son with a meat cleaver.
Ian Ingram was recorded on a 999 tape shouting "I will chop your head off, I'm going to put this axe in his head." as he threatened Margaret Christletow and her son Paul at their home in Barnstaple.
Retired police officer Mrs Christletow used her old truncheon to subdue Ingram, who flew into an irrational rage after drinking all day.
