HOMELESS residents in Barnstaple are being targeted in a new operation which aims to help drinkers off the streets and onto the road to recovery.
Barnstaple's neighbourhood policing team has teamed up with a number of partner agencies to launch the initiative ahead of the summer season.
It follows a rise in the number of drinkers, many of whom are homeless, congregating in areas around the town – particularly outside Barnstaple Heritage Centre.
