THE North Devon AONB Marathon has gained a reputation for doing things differently.
Runners can have a glass of ale halfway through and are treated to a cream tea at the finish, while the beauty and brutality of the hilly coastal route is unmatched.
Next year, rather than the traditional podium, the winners will be greeted by a giant deckchair, supplied by headline sponsor Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks, on which they can take a well-earned rest.
