POLICE are diverting traffic away from Barnstaple's Taw Bridge due to flooding. Information on Devon and Cornwall Police's traffic watch page shows the A361 is closed between the A361 Western Bypass/A3125 (Sticklepath Junction) and the A361 Western Bypass/B3149 Braunton Road. FLOODING has seen traffic grind to a halt on Barnstaple's Taw Bridge today.Heavy rain across the region has left significant amounts of surface water on the roads, and saw police give out a warning to motorists this morning.Devon and Cornwall Police's traffic watch website showed the A361 being shut at Taw Bridge earlier, although people have contacted the Journal to say traffic is still moving over the bridge, albeit slowly.Flood signs have been put out and people are advised to take caution...

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a fire in a fuse box near Ilfracombe today. The fire service was called at 9.51am to Bradwell Road in West Down. A fire engine from Ilfracombe and another from Braunton went to the scene and found the fire was out by the time they got there. Firefighters checked the area for hotspots before leaving.
