RIDERS from Taw Velo made an excellent start to the new year by securing podium places in round one of the Soggy Bottom Series at Newnham Park in Plymouth.
After a week of rain, the course was treacherous, with deep puddles and long sections of mud.
In the U10/12 race, held on a shorter section of the main course, the battle for first was between Louis Garnsworthy and Max Standen. After 20 minutes of chasing, Louis was able to beat Max to first place.
