A THIEVING daughter has been jailed after her mother gave evidence from her nursing home bed about how she looted £17,000 from her bank account.
Gail Penkeyman changed her plea to guilty after watching her 71-year-old mother Wendy Cumming giving evidence by Skype from the care home in Barnstaple.
Penkeyman claimed her mother had given her permission to transfer the cash and had been with her when she made four calls to the Barclays telephone banking service.

A JUDGE has ordered a psychiatric report on a hospital patient who has admitted an attack which caused grievous bodily harm.
Darren O'Regan, 23, who is currently being treated at Langdon Hospital in Dawlish, was remanded in technical custody by Recorder Philip Mott, QC, at Exeter Crown Court.
O'Regan, originally from Torrington, North Devon, who has also lived in a hostel at Chapel Street, Tiverton, admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm at Dawlish in June last year.

Sarah Deeves, 20, was found dead from a suspected heart attack in Barnstaple in December, Exeter Crown Court was told.

A PALETTE of bricks has smashed on the A361 after falling off a lorry near South Molton.
Police and the Highways Agency were called to the Bish Mill Roundabout at 8.30am after the palette fell off the lorry – partially blocking the road.
